I love Valentine's Day. Absolutely adore it. Strange thing to say for a girl who's been single 25 out of 26 Valentine's Days in her life. But nevertheless, I think it's great. A holiday to celebrate love. To reach out to the one's you love. To remember that you love yourself, too. Not only that, but there is chocolate and flowers. Which is always fantastic.
This week, in honor of the holiday, I wrote two poems about myself. I wanted to affirm just how awesome I am. A love letter to myself, if you will. In case you missed them, here are the links: She. A poem celebrating my awesomeness. And A Poem of Flames
So here is my question to you, dear reader, dear friend:
Have you ever written a love letter to yourself?
Could you do it?
What would it look like?
Would you tell yourself:
I have the most dazzling eyes I have ever seen
legs that go on for miles
perhaps a strong masculine jaw that makes you feel strong
Can you compliment your body?
Admire your own wit?
Take pride in your intellect?
What compliments would you give you?
Dress yourself up for a date with you?
Do you love yourself enough to make the effort?
Do you care?
Men and women alike can write themselves a love letter. Love is not exclusively a woman's domain.
My challenge is for you to write a love letter to yourself. In fact, feel free to leave it in the comments section. I will be happy to celebrate you with you, celebrate love, and celebrate happiness.
Go on, don't be shy. Write yourself a letter. Celebrate love.
