Happy World Poetry Day!
In honor of world poetry day I am sharing an idea that has been swirling through my head for several months now...
I love going to poetry readings. Watching a poet share their work live is such a powerful and visceral experience. And I love sharing my poetry with others in person. As fun as it is to share here online, I miss the human contact that is created when I read someone a poem.
Unfortunately, I am not always in a place where I can attend a real, live poetry reading. I also know that many of you, dear readers, are not always in a place where you can attend a poetry reading.
So here is my idea: An online poetry reading. Not a recording of a poetry reading. Not a video posted after the fact. But a live, online poetry reading.
Here is what I propose: a live call where eight poets from around the world read a poem for an online audience to enjoy.
The online reading will take place two months from today on Friday May 20, 2016. The deadline for submissions is April 21, 2016. Those selected to read will be informed two weeks before the reading.
What do you think? Is this something you would like to participate in? Would you read a poem? Would you enjoy watching such a show?
Please feel free to comment below or submit a poem in this form here (either copy paste the text, send a link, or even a link to you reading the poem!).
